Small Business Ideas

You don’t get rich working for other people. That’s a fact. As a small business owner you’ll often make much more per hour (even after expenses) than you currently make. The only catch is, it’ll take a while for you to build up your workload and client base.

If you’re interested in starting your own small business, the “Small Business Ideas Package” will give you over 1500 suggestions to start a business. It includes business ideas that can be started on a shoe-string budget (most less than £100!) for businesses based on the internet or locally.

I’ve provided two webpages of example small business ideas, they’re yours for free. Small Business Ideas 1 and Small Business Ideas 2. There’s hundreds more where they came from! All you need is one small business idea that you think you can do. Also, there’s no training required for most of them.

The fact is most small businesses can be started for around £100-£500, as long as you don’t need to buy any kind of heavy machinery like a tractor or a printing press. Just work from home. Save money on an additional phone line, use you’re mobile number as your business line. Advertising on the internet is cheap! If you saw an advert for this website and clicked on it, it probably cost around 10p to get you here. The internet is making small business start ups incredibly easy, even if you need a website (and you could just sell items through eBay or Amazon) the package includes information on where to find extremely low-cost website designers (and I’m talking around the £50-£100 level! Not the £1000+ established companies will charge you).

Marketing most of these small business ideas are self-explanatory. They can be promoted through the internet, buying adverts cheaply from the search engines, through local directories like Yellow pages and online marketplaces like eBay. In the “Small Business Ideas Package” marketing reports and guides are also included to help promote your business cheaply.

Worried about starting your own small business? I’ll bet you’re quite intelligent, probably with good high school results, college diplomas or even a university degree! Do you know that people who flunk out of high school often run their own small businesses? They learn a trade, or do training of some sort, fill out the simple government forms and then go to work for themselves. And after a few years working at the business, they’re usually earning as much as people who’ve went to university, sometimes more! If they can do it, I guarantee that you can too. You’re probably just looking for an additional income, so you’re setting you’re sights at part-time work for your small business. That’s easily achievable! All you need are some small business ideas, pick the one you like the best, investigate it in more detail, make some business plans and away you go.

There’s no such thing as a job for life, not anymore. Having a part-time small business can be a lifesaver for you and your family should you suddenly be let go from your current job. It’s also quite common for part-time businesses to grow into very profitable full time businesses - it’s all up to you.

The “Small Business Ideas Package” contains many ideas that can be done part-time or full-time. If you’re wanting to have your own little money tree, then you need your own business, but first you need to have an idea of what you’re business will be.

The Small Business Ideas Package has just been launched, so it’s currently set at an introductory price of £9.99. That’s to try and build up some testimonials from customers. The price will rise, £9.99 is about what you’ll spend in an hour in a bar with your friends. Not a lot to have your own money tree! It’s also tax-deductible once you get your business started.

Publishing a newsletter is a great small business idea! Using the internet you can recruit subscribers easily and cheaply. You could offer a free newsletter on your existing website or building and advertising one specifically to launch a newsletter. To make any money from newsletters you really need to have 1000 subscribers, as advertisers will be interested in reaching that many people. People will want to advertise in your newsletter as it’s a cheap way to reach people they know are interested in a particular subject. If you charge £5 per advert, and have 4 adverts per newsletter, that’s £20 an issue. For every 1000 subscribers you’ve got charge another £5. It’s not unrealistic to expect to build a newsletter of 20,000+ subscribers, plenty of other websites have exceeded that mark and they’re not big brands at all. You could publish the newsletter weekly, monthly or even daily. There’s plenty of free email list hosts out there search for “Mailing list hosting” or visit yourmailinglistprovider.com . Just be sure to have people opt-in to your newsletter and don’t ever spam people.

Bulletin boards are a great way to advertise local services. Lots of regular people will want to advertise furniture for sale and small business owners can generate a lot of business from the low-cost advertising. For small businesses to generate any kind of traffic from them, they need to advertise on more than one. You could contact maybe 20 local shops (they usually have their own bulletin boards they charge for putting ads on, or they display them on their doors / windows) and ask them if they’d allow you to place advertisements there on behalf of your clients for their usual fee. You could even bring your own bulletin board and give them a fee for displaying it every month or per ad. Then just contact local businesses by letter offering them the chance to advertise on 20+ local bulletin boards for £4 per ad per month (lets say you make £0.50 per advert). Also don’t forget to advertise on your own boards for free! That’s a good business idea for anyone who regularly deals with these local shops – retail suppliers, salesmen, milk men, vending machine operators or even for a new business start-up.

If you’re trained in an art or sport you could open up a weekly class. All you’d need to do is to hire a gym hall (available at local sports centres, schools, town halls and churches) and advertise your class. The best way to advertise would be in the local paper. Also hand out leaflets at local sports centres where people might go to find out more about your class. The yellow pages and phone book are good to advertise in as well. Make the first lesson free, and then charge an affordable fee per class. You’re aim is to make a couple of pounds on each student, and to recruit 15-30 regulars, not to make a tenner on every student. I’d advise against monthly memberships as they offer less freedom of choice and often put people off because they are expensive.

You can make money with your camera. Digital cameras are great, there’s online services now where you can just upload your saved photos and for a small fee (£0.15 to £2) these companies will print out your photo on the size of paper you want and post it to you. Search for “online photo prints” or “print photos”. That means you can sell your services as a photographer, as you can produce professional quality photographs. All you really need to do is read a beginners book on photography, there’s plenty at amazon.com or take a short local college course. As with any business once you’ve done the work once, the second time it’s much easier! You could visit local universities and stick “professional photographer” posters to notice boards when graduation is coming up, just be reasonable with your prices. Weddings and baby photos are another possible source of income, although weddings often require a video service as well. Do some free work for friends and family members to build your skills first.

Small Business Idea

Promote your small business using email marketing. It’s a fantastic resource that’s very cheap to run. Offer a newsletter  people can subscribe to, offer freebies and include useful content in each issue. Don’t forget to continually promote your service in the newsletters. The golden rule of email marketing is to avoid sending spam emails. Emailing a few businesses once to see if they’re interested in your service is okay, as it’s just like sending a sales letter but avoid putting their email address in a database and sending emails regularly.
